BGC Award Nomination Guidelines

Information for RAC webpage about Awards: 

BGC provides two different awards for each of our certifications: A Lifetime Achievement Award and an Impact Award.

  • Lifetime Achievement Awards are the highest honor awarded to diplomates by the Board for Global EHS Credentialing for exemplary contributions to their practice that have culminated over a lifetime of work. Lifetime Achievement Awards recognize the contributions of an individual who has been a Diplomate for at least 20 years and is in good standing.
  • Impact Awards recognize the contributions of the Board for Global EHS Credentialing diplomates at different stages of their careers. Impact Awards recognize one single contribution made during the last five years for an individual who has been a Diplomate for less than 20 years and is in good standing.

BGC recognizes Impact Awards and Lifetime Achievement Awards for:

  • Qualified Environmental Professionals
  • Certified Industrial Hygienists
  • Certified Professional Auditors
  • Certified Professional Product Stewards

There is one form to complete for either Nominating or Endorsing a prospective awardee. Self-endorsements are permitted BGC Awards 2023.

  • You are a NOMINATOR if you are initiating the process to nominate someone for an award. Once you have completed this form, you will share this survey link with people whom you want to endorse YOUR nomination. Nominators should not provide information to endorsers to copy/paste into the form.
  • You are an ENDORSER if you have been asked by a Nominator to write on behalf of someone for the Nominator. Endorsements that are obvious copy/paste submissions from others will not be considered.

It is the responsibility of the Nominator to verify that Nominees are presently in Good Standing with BGC by visiting www.gobgc.org/verify and following the links to the appropriate certification.

If nominating for an Impact Award, contributions to the profession are not cumulative. Nominees are considered based on one significant positive impact on the profession. The impact is to be demonstrated through a project, series of projects, or initiative that has been completed or was ongoing within the last 5 years including but not limited to the below evaluation elements:

·         Unique technical contributions to the practice of the profession
·         Original research or invention
·         Impactful Technological Contribution
·         A Multi-Media Technological Solution
·         Scientific advancement
·         Technical expertise in one or more areas of the profession
·         Has provided Professional Development and/or Mentoring
·         An Interdisciplinary Management Approach
·         Influence on public policy or social reform

 If nominating for a Lifetime Achievement Award, cumulative significant contributions to the practice over the lifetime of the nominee are considered. Significant contributions are demonstrated through a project, series of projects, or initiative that has been completed or was ongoing as related to any combination of the following:

  • Lifetime Achievement in the profession
  • Professional Standards and Ethics
  • Distinguished service/accomplishment in the advancement of the profession
  • Public, community, and/or professional service
  • International collaboration and cooperation
  • Influence on public policy or social reform
  • Social reform and/or social responsibility
  • Multi-disciplinary team accomplishment(s)
  • Distinguished service/accomplishment in the advancement of the profession
  • Unique technical or scientific advancement contribution to the practice of the profession

It is recommended that you prepare your submissions in advance and use the copy/paste (CTL V) feature to paste your responses. Be prepared to provide the following:

  • A resume or CV for the person you are nominating (in .pdf, .doc, or .docx format).
  • Name, Company, Address(es), Email, Phone Number of the person you are nominating
  • A summary of contributions with year range and contribution similar to the below format:

The James C. Ball EHS Auditing Lifetime Achievement Award is an honor awarded by the Board of Global EHS Credentialing to a Certified Professional Environmental Auditor (CPEA) or Certified Process Safety Auditor (CPSA) who has made significant contributions to the environmental, health and safety audit profession environmental, health and safety audit profession throughout his or her career.

The Lynn C. O’Donnell IH Lifetime Achievement Award is an honor awarded by the Board for Global EHS Credentialing for exemplary contributions to the practice of occupational and environmental hygiene that has culminated over a lifetime of work. The award is given in honor of Lynn O’Donnell, an environmental, health, and safety auditor who was a leader in the profession, a tireless volunteer for the board of Board of Environmental, Health & Safety Certifications, and a staunch advocate of EHS auditor certifications.
